COVID-19: Situation Report – Centro Salvador

In News

As of April 3, the situation at Centro Salvador in the Tondo area of Manila is as follows:

  • In observation of the Philippines strict stay-at-home order, Centro Salvador has been closed
  • Approximately a dozen people are staying there to maintain it but most staff have been sent home
  • The mother’s work shop for making school uniforms and bags is also closed
  • -The kitchen is operating differently – food is brought to the children by tricycles – but these limitations reduce the previous capacity of feeding as many as 1,400 kids in the Centro, as done prior
  • The Canadian Chalice Foundation continues to distribute the stipends to the students – since our children have all bank accounts the flow of money is not interrupted
  • The Centro gave families in need PhP 400 until the government package of PhP 5,000 kicks in
  • -For the time being they have enough funds to pay the Centro staff

The JDVSF will be monitoring the situation closely and standing by to provide increased support as needed.
