There have been exciting developments on our buildings. Construction on the Girl’s Village will begin this month, with the structure expected to be completed before next Christmas. Construction materials have already arrived. In addition, the conference hall has been completed and will be used for visitors and church events this year.
SMDP has furthered its goal to create a self-sufficient food supply. The greenhouse has been heavily used for growing vegetables that are incorporated in every meal. Fish harvesting has also been successful, with new ponds filled with higher-priced Tilapia. The expanded pig farm is thriving along with numerous white ducks that now have their own little pond.
Soon the main road, John D.V. Salvador Drive, will have a hard surface facilitating transportation to SMDP.
And there will certainly be more children climbing all over a new playground slated for completion in late spring. SMDP will welcome more street children this year. The kids are currently being introduced slowly to SMDP before getting assigned to their new, permanent family in one of the cottages.
