Progress Abounds for St. Martin de Porres

There has been extraordinary progress on multiple projects at SMDP during the start of 2014.

Construction has begun on the Girls’ Village. Pillars for the first house are already being built. Construction on an additional building for volunteer staffers is also well on its way.

Pavement of the street is also completed and solar panels are installed in the cottages and working well.

A new shop has opened in the village that sells products made by SMDP kids, such as origami lampshades and decorative flower bunches. A small barbershop will soon open as well, employing three boys trained as hairdressers.

After such substantial success, Father Boyet would like to keep two buses for newly arrived children as a memorial of the villages’ humble beginnings.
